MORE NEW ACM MEMBERS: Los Angeles-based musicians The Drew Davis Band are brand spankin’ new members of the Academy. The high-energy band has been out on the road promoting its debut album, Crossroads, and recently wrapped up a tour opening for Hootie and the Blowfish.
GOODBYE, SNOWMAN: Country music has lost one its most colorful and creative singer-songwriters. Jerry Reed died Monday, Sept. 1 at the age of 71 after a battle with emphysema. In addition to amazing guitar work and recording signature tunes “Amos Moses,” “East Bound and Down” and the Grammy winning “When You’re Hot, You’re Hot,” Reed will be forever remembered for his role as Burt Reynolds’ truck-driving sidekick “The Snowman” in the film Smokey and the Bandit.
